Why
was the Byzantine Empire able to flourish when the Western Roman Empire collapsed

Answers

Answer:

Constantine moved the capital to Byzantium and changed the religious character of the empire from pagan to Christian. This made it different from the Roman Empire.

Despite being the leader of the entire Roman Empire, he made important changes that marked the beginning of what would eventually be called the Byzantine Empire

It also benefited greatly from a stronger administrative center and internal political stability, as well as great wealth compared with other states of the early medieval period.

Explanation:

The Byzantine Empire was the eastern continuation of the Roman Empire after the Western Roman Empire's fall in the fifth century CE. It lasted from the fall of the Roman Empire until the Ottoman conquest in 1453.

Continuities: The Byzantine Empire initially maintained many Roman systems of governance and law and aspects of Roman culture. The Byzantines called themselves "Roman". The term "Byzantine Empire" was not used until well after the fall of the Empire.

Changes: The Byzantine Empire shifted its capital from Rome to Constantinople, changed the official religion to Christianity, and changed the official language from Latin to Greek.

Part Two:
Respond to each question below in your own words and in complete sentences.

What difficulties did slaves face?

What alternatives to slavery do you think the colonists could have used to solve the labor shortage?

Answers

History 15 Point Q/A by Expert Hasqam2004

Slavery started in the colonies as a form of cheap hard labor for the newfound precious natural resources in the colonies such as cotton, tobacco, sugar, and coffee beans.

2. Slaves were brought not only from Western Africa, but also from the Caribbean on large ships. Slaves were packed together with little food and little space. Slaves had to travel on tight ships for months and because of this, many slaves died from starvation or disease. Some slaves just jumped off the boats to prevent themselves from being enslaved in order to maintain their self respect and dignity.

3. Slaves in the colonies did different jobs in the different regions in the colonies. Most slaves found their way to southern colonies in Virginia, South Carolina, and Texas. Slaves there picked cotton on large fields and picked sugar cane, and picked corn. Slaves in the middle colonies picked grains such as wheat. There weren’t many slaves in the Northern colonies, but the few that were in areas like Massachusetts, were usually housemaids cleaning and cooking.

4. Jobs were different in each region because the climate was different in each region. The Southern colonies tended to be more hot with blistering sunlight, so it makes sense that heat resistant resources such as cotton would be found there. Middle colonies had decent soil so wheat could be planted there. New England colonies had horrible soil, but lots of sea ports so shipbuilding and fishing was very popular there.

5. Slaves faced the world of difficulties. First off they weren’t paid anything at all, so finding food was difficult. Most slave owners provided their slaves bread and a little water, but most slaves had to scavenge the town for food to survive, and drink water from rivers. Slaves also were beaten often for not working hard enough or for fainting from extreme heat. Slaves were whipped to the point where their backs became scarred and bloody. Some slaves even died from beatings that were too hard. Lastly, slaves were often separated from their families. Men were often sold at higher prices all across the colonies so mothers and children were often separated from their husbands and fathers, which definitely affected children as many lost their fathers.

6. There weren’t many alternatives to slavery, because it was a very effective form of labor for the colonial economy. Slaves produced immeasurable amounts of natural resources which caused the Mother County, Britain, to become very wealthy.
An alternative in my eye would probably be an Industrial Revolution that happened 50-100 years earlier but that is very unlikely. Maybe slavery could not have been created in the colonies, but the repercussions of that would be that the life in the colonies of America would be completely different.

Anyway I hope you like my work. I spent a good 20 minutes on this so hopefully my 15 points were well earned. Please provide me Brainliest when you get the chance.

Thanks

What was the intended purpose of Alvarez de pineda expedition

Answers

Answer: The stated purpose of Álvarez de Pineda's voyage was to explore the coast between the discoveries of De León on the Florida peninsula and those made on behalf of Velázquez along the southern Gulf, in hope of finding a strait to the Pacific Ocean.

Explanation:

Answer:

No account of the voyage itself, by either Álvarez or Garay, has come to light. Garay's report to the Spanish crown, however, is summarized in a 1521 royal cédula granting him the territory, called Amichel, that Álvarez de Pineda had explored in his name. Although the document identifies neither Álvarez nor other participants in the voyage, it comprises the only extant description of the exploration. The four ships, carrying 270 men, sailed from Jamaica by late March 1519-about six weeks after Cortés had sailed from Cuba on the expedition that led to the conquest of Mexico. The stated purpose of Álvarez de Pineda's voyage was to explore the coast between the discoveries of De León on the Florida peninsula and those made on behalf of Velázquez along the southern Gulf, in hope of finding a strait to the Pacific Ocean. After clearing the Yucatán Channel, which separates Cuba and the mainland, the ships continued north until the Florida panhandle was sighted, then turned east, expecting to find the passage that was supposed to separate the "island of Florida" from the mainland. The ships probably neared the end of the Florida peninsula before contrary wind and strong current forced them to turn about, then sailed west and south along the coast until they found Cortés's nascent settlement of Villa Rica, the first European settlement on the North American mainland.
