Reread these two quotations about creativity. You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have. -- Maya Angelou We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down. ― Kurt Vonnegut Which statement is best supported by these quotations?

Answers

This question is missing the answer choices. I have found them online. They are the following:

1. Creativity is limitless and never-ending.

2. Only those who take risks can be creative.

3. In order to be creative, you must be reckless.

4. There is a time limit on our creativity.

Answer:

The statement which is best supported by the quotations is:

1. Creativity is limitless and never-ending.

Explanation:

Both Maya Angelou and Kurt Vonnegut were famous authors. Angelou was a civil-rights activist and poet born in Missouri in 1928. Vonnegut was born in Indiana in 1922, and his stories famously used satire and postmodern elements.

Even though the two quotes sound very different, they are both describing creativity as limitless. Angelou says it in a more direct way: the more we use creativity, the more we have it. It is never-ending. Vonnegut, on the other hand, uses a metaphor to say the same thing. If creativity is like jumping off a cliff, we must keep on doing it over and over again. Creativity is not something you use or do only once. It is continuous. For those reasons, the best option seems to be number 1. Creativity is limitless and never-ending.

NOTE: The question asks for only one statement. However, in case more than one option can be chosen, number 2 could also be checked.

Each sentence in the question demands a different verb tense. Let's briefly break them down below:

We use the simple past tense to talk about actions that happened at a specific time in the past. That is what we have in sentences 1, 3, and 6.

We use the present perfect tense to talk about actions that have begun in the past and continue into the present. That is the case for sentence 2.

We can use "would" to refer to hypothetical situations, that is, something that will not happen but that we would like to happen. That is what we have in sentences 4 and 8.

We use the past perfect tense to talk about actions that happened in the past before other actions. That is the case in sentence 5.

We use the simple present tense to talk about habitual actions. However, in sentence 7, it is being used to talk about a wish concerning the future.

We use the future continuous to refer to actions that will happen at a specific time in the future, such as in sentence 9.

Finally, we use the simple future to refer to actions that will take place in the future. In sentence 10, it describes a future consequence of a present action.

Instructions: The following argument argues for spending taxpayer money to colonize the moon. Read the argument and answer the question that follows:

Topic and Question

Space Travel: Should our society spend taxpayer money to colonize the moon?

Ineffective Argument

I love space. It rocks.

It is super important to colonize the moon because we will run out of room on earth. My neighbor who grows organic vegetables says that we are ruining the earth’s environment and we will need a new place to live. I totally agree.

I think that another reason we should colonize the moon is that it would be cool. Can you imagine living up there and being able to see the earth? Wow. My best friend says that living on the moon would be an awesome experience for anyone.

The moon is great!

Answers

Claim- weak and to oppinionated

Support- informal, gramaticly inaccurate, uses words like "cool" and "Totally", uses evidence from an irrelevant source

Conclusion- not really a conclusion. one sentence is not a conclusion and it doesnt sum up the rest of the argument.

pov- is written in first person when it should be written in third person.

Transitions- no transitions

Answer:

The claim for this article is very weak and oppinionated, and when you are writing an article you can not have opinions, but facts.  Some evidence that this is weak is that it is informal and gramatically inaccurate, using words such as "cool", or "totally" rather than using proper grammer and would not need to even include simaller words if he had a proper article with trustable sources.  This also uses information from a irrelevent sources, including his friend and neighbor.  This also includes to transitions whatsover, which are nessacary to thread the article together neatly.  Transitions would have also helped the article stay more relevent, rather than just stating random opinions and statments, as well as not thinking about the format and length of the article.  As for the point of view, it is written from the "author's" perspective, otherwise known as first person view when it should have been written in third person view.  Finally for the conclusion, at first it seems there was nowhere to be found because, there is not.  All it has for a conclusion is one sentence (The moon is great!) that does not even include a small summary of the entire article which is what a proper conclusion is.

This is my Commemorative speech for my English class.

The name Ella, meaning “a beautiful fairy woman” or “light”, was an exact description of my best friend, Ella Schriner. She has helped me through all of my ups and downs, and all of my good and bad days. We both suffer from mental disorders, and we both have experienced trauma in our lifetime, but that does not stop us from being there for eachother. A good friend can have many definitions but mine, I believe, is precise. A good friend is always there for you even when other people are not, and they comfort you through all of the rough days. They laugh, they cry, they hurt with you...and that is what really matters. Personally, I have really bad anxiety and minor depression because of all of the trauma I have experienced in my life. My father had left my mother and I when I was just born, and I would never forgive him; But Ella has shown me that I do not need a bad influence in my life; and that if he will forget about me, then I shall forget about him. Ella showed me how to stop stressing over something that will never come back. She has taught me how to be a better person, and therefore she is not considered my friend….she is my family. Ella, oh Ella, I wish I could explain to you how much you mean to me but I just cannot find the right words because there are so many to describe you with; but all I would like to say to you is….”Thank You”.

Answers

I love how you describe how close Ella is to your heart, and how you expressed your feelings towards Ella. I also love how you effortlessly transitioned to the conclusion. I think it looks amazing so far! There are a few grammar errors that you could easily fix, but other than that, I think it's great! Personally, I think you could change the part where you said "They laugh, they cry, they hurt with you" because in my opinion, it isn't gramatically correct. I also wanted to point out that the quotes around the "Thank you" you put in the end is not placed properly, but you could easily fix that. I hope this helps! <3

Select the correct texts in the passage.Which two details, one from each excerpt, show how the two speakers treat the concept of a strong and growing U.S. military power similarly?Passage 1excerpt from Franklin D. Roosevelt's Four Freedoms SpeechOn January 6, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt spoke to Congress about the potential effect that World War II might have on the United States and its policies. His address has since become popularly known as the Four Freedoms Speech.. . . It is true that prior to 1914 the United States often had been disturbed by events in other Continents. We had even engaged in two wars with European nations and in a number of undeclared wars in the West Indies, in the Mediterranean and in the Pacific for the maintenance of American rights and for the principles of peaceful commerce. But in no case had a serious threat been raised against our national safety or our continued independence. What I seek to convey is the historic truth that the United States as a nation has at all times maintained clear, definite opposition, to any attempt to lock us in behind an ancient . . . wall while the procession of civilization went past. Today, thinking of our children and of their children, we oppose enforced isolation for ourselves or for any other part of the Americas. . . .The need of the moment is that our actions and our policy should be devoted primarily--almost exclusively--to meeting this foreign peril. For all our domestic problems are now a part of the great emergency.Just as our national policy in internal affairs has been based upon a decent respect for the rights and the dignity of all our fellow men within our gates, so our national policy in foreign affairs has been based on a decent respect for the rights and dignity of all nations, large and small. And the justice of morality must and will win in the end. Our national policy is this:First, by an impressive expression of the public will and without regard to partisanship, we are committed to all-inclusive national defense.Second, by an impressive expression of the public will and without regard to partisanship, we are committed to full support of all those resolute peoples, everywhere, who are resisting aggression and are thereby keeping war away from our Hemisphere. By this support, we express our determination that the democratic cause shall prevail; and we strengthen the defense and the security of our own nation.Third, by an impressive expression of the public will and without regard to partisanship, we are committed to the proposition that principles of morality and considerations for our own security will never permit us to acquiesce in a peace dictated by aggressors and sponsored by appeasers. We know that enduring peace cannot be bought at the cost of other people's freedom. . . .Let us say to the democracies: "We Americans are vitally concerned in your defense of freedom. We are putting forth our energies, our resources and our organizing powers to give you the strength to regain and maintain a free world. We shall send you, in ever-increasing numbers, ships, planes, tanks, guns. This is our purpose and our pledge. . . ."In the future days, which we seek to make secure, we look forward to a world founded upon four essential human freedoms. The first is freedom of speech and expression--everywhere in the world. The second is freedom of every person to worship God in his own way--everywhere in the world. The third is freedom from want--which, translated into world terms, means economic understandings which will secure to every nation a healthy peacetime life for its inhabitants everywhere in the world. The fourth is freedom from fear--which, translated into world terms, means a world-wide reduction of armaments to such a point and in such a thorough fashion that no nation will be in a position to commit an act of physical aggression against any neighbor--anywhere in the world.
