Explanation:

Read the passage. There are several questions about this passage.
whether formed by water run-off, deer, or wild turkey, every path seemed to
be a desire path.
2
But when we were some hundred feet below the ridge line, the signal
picked up, and its steady, loud chirping took us to the old black locust tree,
seventy or maybe seventy-five feet tall, with cracks and fissures in its deeply
furrowed bark that made it an accommodating roost. A pamphlet from the US
Fish and Wildlife Division of the Department of Environmental Conservation
describes the Indiana bat as having fur that is "dull grayish chestnut rather
than bronze, with the basal portion of the hairs of the back dull lead colored.
This bat's underparts are pinkish to cinnamon, and its hind feet small and
delicate." I saw nothing like this, but when we listened very carefully, we could
hear their hum of gentle chattering. Bats use sound to situate themselves;
their capacity for echolocation is what guldes them, what elucidates their
sense of space and substance, what locates their prey. But the sound, a series
of tiny clicks ten or twenty, forty or even two hundred times a second, is at a
frequency beyond most human hearing; it is exactly that high frequency with
its short wavelengths that produces the detailed echoes the bats rely on to
learn the shape of their universe. We live in an acoustical empire we will never
know, our threshold of hearing situated somewhere between the low,
Infrasonic rumbling of elephants and the high-pitched ultrasonic rasping of
tenrec shrews that rub their quills together to communicate. I knew that the
subtle whispering I could make out was but a fraction of the sound sensation
the bats were creating and, listening to the soft murmuring, felt I was standing
at the gate to a remote kingdom of sound that could only be imagined.
In paragraph 2, how are elephants and tenrec shrews
related to the human "threshold of hearing"?
1. These animals illustrate the lowest and highest
sounds that most humans can hear.
2. These animals make some sounds that are
outside the range of human hearing.
3. These animals can hear sounds that most
humans and bats are also likely to hear.
4. These animals are like humans in their ability to
hear the range of sounds made by bats.

Answers

The threshold of hearing means 2. These animals make some sounds that are outside the range of human hearing.

What is this passage about?

In the passage, a bat hunt in the wild is described. They determined that an ancient black locust tree was an Indiana bat roosting site after the author and his team received a signal that sent them there. Although they couldn't see the bats, the author adds that they could hear their soft chattering. They observe that to locate themselves and find prey, bats use sound, particularly echolocation. The frequency of the clicks that bats make is higher than most people can hear, and it's this higher incidence that enables the bats to hear precise echoes and comprehend the contours of their surroundings. The passage also briefly indicates that the range of human hearing is between the deep infrasonic rumble of elephants and the strong ultrasonic rustling of tenrec harpies that rub their feathers together to communicate.

It is easy to construct the basic present tense. Simply use the verb's base form: "I take," "you take," "we take," "they take." The third person singular adds a -s to the end.

We employ the simple present tense when an activity is occurring right now or when it occurs frequently (or ceaselessly, which is why it's sometimes called present indefinite) (he takes, she takes). The simple present tense can be created with the root form or by adding -s or -es to the end, depending on the person. I feel fantastic!

. Write an article on the topic- Stop using plastic bags. in 200 word

Answers

Plastic bags have become a ubiquitous part of our daily lives, but they are also a major source of pollution and environmental degradation. Every year, millions of plastic bags end up in landfills, where they can take hundreds of years to break down, or in the ocean, where they can have devastating effects on marine life.

The use of plastic bags has also been linked to a number of other environmental problems, including deforestation, as trees are often cut down to make way for plastic production. They also contribute to climate change, as the production and transportation of plastic bags requires the use of fossil fuels.

Despite these issues, plastic bags are still widely used, often for just a few minutes before being thrown away. This is why it is so important for us to stop using plastic bags and switch to more sustainable alternatives.

There are a number of alternatives to plastic bags that are just as convenient and affordable, including reusable cloth bags, paper bags, and even biodegradable plastic bags. These options are not only better for the environment, but they can also save you money in the long run, as you won't have to constantly buy new plastic bags.

By making the switch to more sustainable alternatives, we can help reduce plastic pollution and protect the environment for future generations. So next time you go shopping, remember to bring your own bag and help stop the use of plastic bags.

The purpose of an in-text citation is to make it clear to the reader where you got your information. Including references and a writer's list of sources used to create a text is called a works cited page.

What is the purpose of in-text citation?

Every time you use a quotation from or paraphrase a source in your writing, an in-text reference is required. When you quote, you really use the original author's words in your own writing, generally after a signal phrase. Quotes should always be credited (and denoted with quotation marks) together with the page number of the source where they were taken from.

Examples of in-text citation:

Romantic poetry is characterized by the "spontaneous overflow of

  powerful feelings" (Wordsworth 263).

What is the use of works cited?

A writer uses a Works Cited page to acknowledge the sources they consulted while creating a work. Giving attribution helps authors prevent plagiarism, which is the practice of misrepresenting the authorship of someone else's works. Plagiarism is disrespectful to the authors of other materials and can damage an author's academic reputation. Writers must be open and upfront about which ideas were their own and which ones they borrowed from other sources in order to be perceived as a reliable source of information.

what you do if you see typo in massage

Answers

Answer:

We all make mistakes, er, and typos. And sometimes the playful auto-correct feature turns a typo into a word that we did not intend. Yes, this is a common source of embarrassment. Sending a friend or colleague a typo is one thing, but when your company sends out a mail shot and there is a typo in it, it never feels good.

If you do send out an e-mail or a text to someone with a typo then you can always message them again and say “oops, there was a typo”, etc. But, when you are doing a mass mailer, you can’t really do that.

I have been involved in quite a few online ventures and we have had our fair share of typos. It looks amateurish when it happens and you feel bad, but you survive.

Typos come in different shapes and sizes. Big mistakes are when you send the right mail to the wrong person. And small typos are like this won, er, this one. Ok, that was on people, er, on purpose.

Of course, if it is a big typo like you got the date wrong for the start of the big sale, then you have to send out a new mailer with an apology and a correction.

Typos are not cool, but they are part of this new world. We obviously try our best to make sure that they don’t happen.

The bottom line about a typo in a mass mail shot is this: Nothing. You do nothing. It’s too late. Don’t forget the Streisand effect. So just leave it.

If you do have a typo then life will go on. Thank those that helped you by bringing it to your attention, and put more measures in place to make sure this does not happen again.

The influence of Edgar Allan Poe on American literature cannot be denied. In 1841, he published the first modern detective story, "The Murders in the Rue Morgue.” Poe is also credited for his influence in science fiction. Although other writers had written fantastic tales in science fiction, Poe added realistic science details that made his stories more believable. Read the passage from the opinion of the court in Dred Scott v. Sandford, written by Justice Taney.

The question before us is, whether the class of persons described in the plea in abatement compose a portion of this people, and are constituent members of this sovereignty? We think they are not, and that they are not included, and were not intended to be included, under the word "citizens" in the Constitution, and can therefore claim none of the rights and privileges which that instrument provides for and secures to citizens of the United States. On the contrary, they were at that time considered as a subordinate and inferior class of beings, who had been subjugated by the dominant race, and, whether emancipated or not, yet remained subject to their authority, and had no rights or privileges but such as those who held the power and the Government might choose to grant them.

Which statement best serves as a counterclaim to the claim in this passage?

Taney fails to provide any actual evidence for his statements that Black people were universally considered inferior.
Taney cannot use states’ rights to claim that the plaintiff is not a citizen, because citizenship is federal.
Taney’s argument that emancipated people were still controlled by White people is false because they were free.
Taney’s argument that Blacks were not citizens is false because their ancestors were forced to come here.

Answers

Taney cannot use states’ rights to claim that the plaintiff is not a citizen, because citizenship is federal is the statement best serves as a counterclaim to the claim in this passage. Hence, option A is correct.

What is the concept of the passage?

Justice Taney makes the case in this text that black people, as defined by the Dred Scott v. Sandford decision, do not meet the constitutional definition of "citizens" and do not thus have the same rights and advantages as American citizens.

Black people, according to him, were considered a "subordinate and inferior class of beings" who were "subject to the authority" of the dominant race at the time the Constitution was being written and were only entitled to the rights and privileges bestowed upon them by those in positions of authority.

Thus, option A is correct.

Write a review of chapter one from Fast Food Nation.

Answers

Answer:

Chapter one of Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser is an eye-opening look into the history and culture of the fast food industry. Schlosser provides an in-depth analysis of how the industry has grown and evolved over the past few decades, and how it has become a major part of the American culture. He examines the industry's history, its current state, and the impact it has had on our society. He also looks at the various ways in which fast food companies have been able to manipulate and control consumers.

Overall, this chapter provides an informative and thought-provoking look into the fast food industry. Schlosser's writing is engaging and easy to follow, and he is able to provide a comprehensive overview of the industry without getting bogged down in too much detail. The chapter is also filled with interesting facts and anecdotes that provide insight into the industry's history and its current state. All in all, this is a great introduction to the book, and it provides a great foundation for the rest of the book.

Explanation:

Chapter 1 opens with discussion of Carl N. Karcher, one of fast food’s pioneers. Carl was born in 1917 in Ohio. He quit school after eighth grade and spent long hours farming with his father. When he was twenty years old, his uncle offered him a job in his Feed and Seed store in Anaheim, CA. Carl moved out to California, where he met his wife Margaret and began his own family. Margaret and Carl bought a hotdog cart; Margaret sold hotdogs across the street from a Goodyear factory while Carl worked at a bakery. During this time California’s population was rapidly expanding, as was the auto industry. Carl eventually opened a Drive-In Barbeque restaurant. The post-WWII economy provided him with plenty of customers.

Nearby, the McDonald brothers were running their own restaurant, “McDonald’s Famous Hamburgers.” It was the McDonald brothers who began the Speedee Service System, which brought customers out of their cars and into their highly-efficient restaurant. Inspired by McDonalds, Carl Karcher opened his own self-service restaurant, Carl Jr.’s. Eisenhower’s Interstate Highway Act brought even more people to eat in self-service restaurants. Entrepreneurs from throughout the nation came to observe the McDonald’s phenomenon. During this period many of the fast-food places that remain today were started: Taco Bell, Dunkin’ Donuts, Wendy’s, Domino’s, and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

During the Arab oil embargo of 1973, fast-food restaurants underwent a bad scare, but they recovered. Carl Karcher ran into his own difficulties throughout his career with Carl Jr.’s; however when asked how he felt about all the changes, Carl responded that he believes in progress. He does not miss the good old days.

Notes - This chapter provides a historical backdrop from which Schlosser’s discussion of the fast-food nation will begin. Here, the author provides a somewhat nostalgic look into the exciting post-World War II era when the economy was great and big dreams were possible. Interestingly, Schlosser is virtually silent about the tumultuous race relations in Southern California in this period. While he briefly mentions the Ku Klux Klan on page 14, he says nothing about the presence of Mexican Americans. He might have used the founding of Taco Bell to discuss how white Americans in this time and place appropriated images of Mexico in very specific ways. Moreover, Schlosser cites Cary McWilliams when discussing the atmosphere of the 1940s, yet chooses to overlook her seminal study North from Mexico (1949) in which she interrogates the fierce racism Mexican Americans faced. This study suggests a conspiracy of those in power to put Mexican-American youths in jail for a murder they did not commit in the mid-1940s. For further reading, one might consult Eduardo Obregón Pagán’s Murder at the Sleepy Lagoon: Zoot Suits, Race, & Riot in Wartime L.A. (2003), which addresses the tensions between the U.S. Navy, police, the white middle class, and Mexican Americans during World War II.

Plato, like the majority of other ancient philosophers, promotes a virtue-based, eudaemonistic view of ethics. Eudaimonia, or happiness or well-being, is the ultimate goal of moral thought and behavior, and the virtues are the necessary abilities and attitudes to achieve it.

What were Plato's views on the purpose of philosophy?

Similar to this, despite his belief that one of, if not the primary goal of philosophy is to help one live a virtuous life, he avoided immediately imparting any practical life lessons to his audience by choosing to write conversations as opposed to treatises or hortatory letters.

Plato believed that forms, like beauty, were more genuine than any objects that attempted to copy them. Physical objects are constantly changing even though the shapes are ageless and unchanging. Physical objects are qualified and conditioned, whereas forms are unqualified perfection.

Thus, Plato, like the majority of other ancient philosophers, promotes a virtue-based, eudaemonistic view of ethics.

Is staked and is blazed all the way.
