my name is jane im a tortoise. its hard being a tortoise. people leave tons of trash on the ground its impossible to roam around freely. once when i was a baby i got my shell stuck in a can soda plastic thing and now my shell is mis shapened and is dented. its hard to walk around because now i get bullied by my so called friends. and one day i was looking for food on my daily stroll suddenly a  tall thing appeared apparently called a human i think i was in their territory or something they threw me in to a large water body in their place my friend told me its called a pool suddenly that human realised and helped me out gave me som food and i was on  my way. i was scared of going on strools again. eversince ive never been on a stroll. its getting more boring and boring staying with my family my sister and brohter and i are triplets we were born in the same litter. right now ive noticed not many hummans are outside now and eversince iv been doing whatever i wana whenever i want. i can go anywhere and no ones gonna pick me up or kick me. yesterday i asked my mommy why it was like that. my mom is really smart and knows the answer to everything. when i asked her she said humans are in this thing called lockdown and they cant leave their houses. that made me happier so today i walked in front of every building and did whatever i want on my way i noticed something unusual it was a mini version of a lion with no mane it was tangled in a string . i tried my best to help it out. when i was doing that it was looking at me strangely a look of confusion after we got it out it started chasing me like crazy at first i thought it was gonna eat me i got tired and hid but it found me i got scared but then it told me it wanted to be friends. i said sure. i asked what it was turns out theres this thing called a cat. i honestly thought those things were fake his name was jake. we were really good friends i only met him yesterday but i felt like he was a really good friend. where supposed to meet up later today. oh its time now i have to go noe ill take you wiht me actually im sure jake wont mind right. so today jake sjowed me some tricks he meowed at a door and a lady came out and gave him food and then she said something i dont knoe the human language so i dont know what she went inside and put something in front of me it smelled delicious jake told me to dig in i did and i dont regret it that was the best  meal i had in my life it tasted so good i rate it five star

The Florida panther, for example, has such a low population that each time one is killed on a highway, it is a catastrophic loss.

There is hope, however, in a new way of helping animals cross through highway areas unharmed. Wildlife overpasses give animals a way to cross highways without risking their lives. These look and work like bridges but are usually covered with grass and trees that make animals like deer feel welcome. The cars drive through a tunnel under the bridges. Fences along the top edges keep the animals safe.

These overpasses also connect habitats, so along with deer, the coyotes who hunt them can cross. This allows both species to have a larger range, which also helps their long-term survival. To the animals in these habitats, the overpasses may be like an extra safety net that helps them survive a drought. The bridges are especially important for animals that migrate. For centuries, animals like elk and buffalo migrated on trails that still, now, lead right up to the edges of major highways. With the help of these bridges, migrating animals can still follow their long-used paths unharmed.

In some cases, these overpasses benefit humans directly as well. In these cases, the overpasses are part of a green space or park that people use for cycling, backpacking, or jogging. The overpasses give humans access to areas they may not have been able to see but also provide safety for animals.

The next time you are traveling on a highway, keep a lookout for a wildlife passage. With attention to how our lives affect the natural world, we can find clever solutions, like wildlife passages, that help animals and improve our lives, too.

Not all wildlife accommodations for highways are overpasses. In some cases, certain species are so important that underpasses or underground tunnels are built. In Florida, two such underpasses help turtles, snakes, and alligators that often migrate from one body of water to another. Working like a large funnel, these underpasses usually require a barricade or fence alongside the highway that forces animals toward a tunnel. Science has given humans many amazing devices and useful bits of knowledge. We know so much about our bodies and how to stay healthy, for example. We also know how to make machines and devices that make life easy for us. Scientists dedicate their lives to knowledge, but even with a lifetime commitment, sometimes scientists fail to find all the answers. One mystery that still remains unsolved is why we yawn—what makes us yawn and what purpose it serves.

Recent studies suggest that we yawn when we get tired as a way to encourage our brains. The theory is that yawning helps cool the brain, allowing it to work more efficiently. According to WebMD's article about these studies, when you yawn, your jaw muscles get stretched, increasing blood flow to your neck, face, and head. Also a deep breath during the yawn forces spinal fluid and blood down from the brain. The cool air then cools down these fluids.

Other scientists believe, however, that yawning is a form of communication. This theory attempts to explain why yawning seems to spread from person to person. This kind of behavior is called "contagious yawning" and carries with it a possible social message. Scientists are not yet sure what exactly the message is, but they believe people who have more social empathy are more likely to start yawning when they see someone else yawning.

Scientists will continue to investigate the mystery of the yawn. Is it a leftover behavior from before humans had language? Was it a "Hey, I'm sleepy. Let's go to sleep" message? Or is it really just a way to keep our brains cool? While this behavior still is largely a mystery, one thing is certain: you are probably fighting the urge to yawn right about now.
