Answers

Answer:

For me, the hardest part of writing is finding the words to match what I am thinking. Often times I find myself staring at a blank page trying to display my goal in what I am writing while still making it my own. Usually, I write the best when I am passionate about the topic of my work. This helps me feel good about what I am writing, find the words a bit easier, and write more because I am knowledgeable about said topic.

A few of the steps I take to writing something good are reviewing what I know about what I am writing about, making a rough draft and going over it, and taking my time to figure out what I can improve on as I go along.  As far as helping a struggling writer, I could find out what is blocking them when they are writing. If they are finding it difficult to set up their paragraphs then I would guide them through that. If they are struggling with something like not being able to relate to what they are writing or not connecting to it then I would suggest they do more research and/or think about little things in their life that could connect to said topic.

Hope this helps hun!

Identify examples of Ethos, Pathos, and Logos in Frederick Douglass's "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?"

Answer:

Explanation:

Ethos, Pathos, Logos in the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass

Infographic to display Ethos, Pathos and Logos

LOGOS

Douglass makes a convincing argument due to his well-written, logical account. He uses sophisticated vocabulary along with specific, verifiable names and geographic locations. He writes fairly and gives credit where it is due in order to avoid accusations of unjust bias.

PATHOS

Douglass describes the cruel beatings slaves received in vivid detail. His eloquent language inspires pity in the reader. His accounts are most powerful when he describes witnessing the abuse of others as a terrified child. He writes, "No words, no tears, no prayers, from his gory victim, seemed to move his iron heart from its bloody purpose...I was quite a child, but I remember it. I shall never forget it whilst I remember anything."

ETHOS

Douglass's narrative begins with a preface by well-known abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison and a letter from abolitionist Wendell Phillips. These respected men act as witnesses, testifying to Douglass's good character. Douglass also builds his credibility by refusing to believe in superstitions and depicting himself as a hard-working, intelligent, church-going Christian

All of the following describe the purpose of informative speeches except: a. to impact what the audience believes or does b. to give the audience important and appropriate information c. to teach the audience how to do something d. to report results of a research project to the audience Please select the best answer from the choices provided

Answers

Answer:

it's A

to impact what the aoudience believes or does

Explanation:

All of the following describe the purpose of informative speeches except to impact what the audience believes or does. Hence, option A is correct.

What is informative speeches?

Usually, talking in an instructive way entails bringing up other people, objects, processes, places, or other people. It can be difficult to inform a crowd on one of these subjects without also attempting to persuade them.

But not every informative speech instructs an audience in the same way. The four types of instructive speeches are definition talks, demonstration talks, explanation talks, and description talks.

There are three categories under which informative speeches might be placed. These talks serve as examples, descriptions, and definitions. Each of the three types still has a separate intended purpose, but they are all supposed to inform.

Thus, option A is correct.

Read the poem "Bacchus's Regret" by Hunter Doyle and answer the question. [1] King Midas returned my beloved teacher to me, so I rewarded him with a wish—whatever he wanted would be. Midas cried, "Give my fingers a golden touch! Then, I shall have a gilded kingdom and such." [5] I tried to make him see the err of his choice, but he would not heed the caution in my voice. I pleaded with Midas, "Be careful what you choose, for you're only thinking of what you'll gain—not what you'll lose." [9] His thirst for wealth became no match for his appetite; after all, a gold apple is not something one can bite. His daughter wept for her poor starving dad, so he wiped her tears and told her not to be sad. [13] Into a golden statue Midas's daughter became, and he and his greedy wish were ultimately to blame. Yet, maybe if I had put up more of a fight and a fret, then I wouldn't have to live with all this regret. Select the line that best supports the theme greed can prompt bad decisions.

Answers

Answer:

[9] His thirst for wealth became no match for his appetite; after all, a gold apple is not something one can bite. His daughter wept for her poor starving dad, so he wiped her tears and told her not to be sad

Explanation:

Line 9 is the line that best supports the theme greed can prompt bad decisions based on the poem Bacchus's Regret by Hunter Doyle.

This is because, King Midas was so overcome by greed and lust of power and money that he did not consider what he stood to lose, only what he stood to gain.

He chose to have a golden touch and didn't consider that he could not eat a golden apple and eventually turned his daughter to a golden statue after he unknowingly touched her.

Which version of the underlined portion of sentence 9 (reproduced below) develops the main idea of the paragraph by explaining an effect of the art piece Passin’ on to Others ?

Words that previously had passed unremarked now joined other aphorisms and sayings that Kennedy has printed on posters.

a// (as it is now)

b// appeared in a hand-printed format thanks to a technique similar to the process used by professional printers hundreds of years ago

c// made up the entire text of the piece, confirming that “limitations spark creativity,” as Kennedy asserted in a 2010 interview with artist Michael Curtin

d// spurred consideration and discussion, exchanges that many stylists chose to continue by hanging prints from the show in their salons

e// presented an impressive, wall-sized spectacle to visitors who encountered them at the Institute for Contemporary Art

Answers

Answer:

The answer is D. Spurred consideration and discussion, exchanges that many stylist chose to continue by hanging prints from the show in their salons.

The main claim of the paragraph is that art can encourage communication and strengthen group identity within a community. Answer choice “D” develops that claim by narrating how the piece Passin’ on to others encouraged patrons of local salons to reflect and discuss the words they use in daily life.

Option D is the development of the main idea of the presented sentence. So we can say that option D is the correct answer.

Although you didn't present the entire paragraph, we can come up with this answer because:

The sentence presented in the question above shows that elements that were ignored in the past began to become an issue of discussion after Kennedy's work.Option D shows how this work stimulated several discussions and considerations among the stylists. These discussions and considerations involved subjects that were not considered relevant and sought to establish their importance in fashion shows and other artistic representations.

In other words, we can state that the sentence presented in the question and option D are in harmony, as they point to the same topic.

Explanation:

The purpose of the paradox in the excerpt is to highlight the idea that fear can be viewed in different ways. (option D)

What is a paradox?

A paradox is a statement that may seem to be contradictory or illogical but that can be true. In the excerpt, the paradox lies in the fact that the speaker says "anxiety was a luxury."

We all know anxiety is a most annoying feeling. So it seems contradictory that someone would call it a luxury. The author's purpose when doing so is to highlight the different ways to view fear.

He reveals that anxiety was lost once people heard about the terrible deaths and mutilations. So anxiety was indeed a luxury belonging to those who were ignorant of such atrocities.

With the information above in mind, we can choose option D as the best answer.
