The Bill of Rights sets rules for due process of law and reserves all powers that were not given to the Federal Government to the people or the States. The Bill of Rights derives from the Magna Carta (1215), as well as the English Bill of Rights (1689). This important piece of American History was also written after the Declaration of Independence.
