What are some featured species in the deep sea?

Answers

Answer 1

What is so fascinating about our deep blue sea is the fact that there could be so many more species than the ones we know about. Our oceans are so vast and deep anything could really be down there. I don't exactly know what you mean by this question but I can give you some deep-sea creatures that have been discovered, although some sound equivalent to science fiction, they are in fact real.

- Giant Isopod: they are a species of aquatic crustacean. Their appearance is that of a much larger bug, similar to those "rolly polly" bugs. They reside in the deep sea scuttling along the seabed and ultimately harmless to humans.

- Vampire Squid: This creature looks similar to many other squids such as their squid-like bodies and tentacles, however, what makes this squid unique is its black webbed skin (resembling a vampire cape) and its red eyes. The vampire squid's body is covered in photophores that produce light to attract prey.

- Frilled Shark: This is an odd-looking shark that lurks in the deep sea. It looks almost pre-historic and can grow up to a length of 7ft with a typical shark fin further down its back as well as the well-known rows of sharp teeth. Its gills appear to be frilled hence its name.

- Anglerfish: These deep-sea creatures are pretty commonly known. They are frightening-looking fish with long thin teeth lining their mouth and the notable luminescent fin ray that it uses to lure other fish to eat.

So these were just some notable deep-sea creatures that I have heard of and I wrote some information about them. Hope this helped :)

Describe at least three large - scale detrimental consequences of rising temperatures

Answers

Answer:

Answers

with 75% of their mass being hydrogen and 25% helium.

Celestial objects that are formed mostly of the elements hydrogen and helium are gas giants and dwarf planets. Gas giants are large planets, such as Jupiter and Saturn, which are composed primarily of hydrogen and helium.

What is the reason of calling them Jovian planets ?

These planets are also known as Jovian planets, and they are much larger than the terrestrial planets, such as Earth, that are made up of rock and metal. Gas giants have no solid surface and are composed mostly of gas and liquid.

Dwarf planets are smaller than gas giants and are made up of a combination of rock and ice. These objects are too small to be considered full-fledged planets, but they still have characteristics of planets such as an atmosphere, moons, and an orbit around the sun.

Although these objects are composed of different materials than gas giants, they still contain significant amounts of hydrogen and helium. In contrast, rocky planets and asteroids are composed of materials such as rock, metal, and ice. Rocky planets, such as Earth, are composed mostly of iron, silicon, magnesium, and other elements

Hence, . Asteroids are small, rocky objects that are found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. These objects are composed of rock, metal, and ice, and contain very little hydrogen and helium.

. A researcher studies the evolutionary relationships between influenza viruses by comparing the genomic sequences of the viruses found in pigs, ducks, and humans in a given year. When evaluating the viruses that had infected these hosts the previous year, she identifies a cross-species transfer from humans to pigs. This information supports the hypothesis that cross-species transfer leads to more severe disease if during the previous year _______ suffered a severe influenza pandemic.

Answers

Answer:

pigs

Explanation:

Influenza is an infectious disease caused by influenza viruses, which can be divided into four types A, B, C and D. In humans, influenza A and B viruses are known to cause epidemics, while A viruses are known to cause pandemics. Influenza viruses are also found in birds and mammals (e.g., dogs, cats,  cattle pigs and horses). Cross-species virus transmission refers to the transmission process of infectious viruses between hosts from different species. Several viruses that may cause severe diseases in humans have originated from animal species, e.g., avian influenza A virus that can be transmitted to humans through an intermediate host (e.g., pigs). Other examples of cross-species virus transmission include the Ebola virus and Hantaviruses. It has been suggested that cross-species transmission is a common phenomenon in rapidly evolving viruses.

Genetic Variation:Question 8
The process of meiosis results in four nuclei, each of which is
haploid and has a single set of unreplicated chromosomes. The
genetic composition of each single set of chromosomes differs from
the other sets of chromosomes due to the?

Answers

Answer: Genetic variation can be caused by mutation (which can create entirely new alleles in a population), random mating, random fertilization, and recombination between homologous chromosomes during meiosis (which reshuffles alleles within an organism's offspring).

By the end of meiosis, the resulting reproductive cells, or gametes, each have 23 genetically unique chromosomes. The overall process of meiosis produces four daughter cells from one single parent cell.

Explanation:

During meiosis, homologous chromosomes (1 from each parent) pair along their lengths. The chromosomes cross over at points called chiasma. At each chiasma, the chromosomes break and rejoin, trading some of their genes. This recombination results in genetic variation.

1) Identify 4 stimuli that cause a decrease in the number of producers, consumers, and decomposers living in an area.
2) What could be the effects in relation to the energy pyramid, population, and community of organisms within the environment.

Answers

Answer:

Temperature, humidity, food and water.

Explanation:

Temperature, humidity, food and water are the four stimuli that is responsible for the decrease in the population of producers, consumers, and decomposers living in that area. If the temperature is too high or too cold, the growth of the producer stops and the plants can't tolerate the temperature will die. The death of producers causes the death of consumers  because consumers depend on these producers for food. The population of decomposer also decreases if the environment is too harsh because decomposers also requires suitable environment for growth and survival. There is adverse effect on the energy pyramid, population, and community of organisms within the environment if these stimuli are not present in suitable range.

What is cell specification?

Cell specification is the process by which a cell determines its fate. After specification, a cell's gene pattern changes. Some genes that are present in euchromatin regions are expressed, and as a result, this cell expresses specific proteins and RNA.

After the zygote is formed, it undergoes a cleavage process to form multiple cells by mitosis. The cells then specify and receive their fate, such as some converting into nervous cells, others into epithelial cells, and still others into blood cells.

This change in structure and function is due to the expression of special genes in DNA. Though all cells have the same genetic content, some genes are present in euchromatin regions and some genes are present in heterochromatin regions. Genes of euchromatin are expressed.

Hence, option E is the correct answer, as the cell produced specific transcription factors.

Use the information gathered in the A Three Point Test Cross animation to answer the question. Genes H and K are linked and are known to be 3.5 m.u. apart on the same chromosome. What is the recombination frequency between H and K

Answers

Answer:

3.5 percent (3.5%)

Explanation:

In genetics, crossing over or 'recombination' refers to the exchange of genetic material between non-sister chromatids of homologous chromosomes during meiosis I. The map units (m.u.), also known as centimorgans, represent a measure of genetic linkage between genes/loci located on the same chromosome. One map unit (1 m.u.) is equal to a 1 percent chance that two gene/loci (in this case, genes H and K) will be separated during meiosis by recombination. In the example above, it means that among their progeny, 3.5 percent (3.5%) will be recombinant for the two genes (H and K), and 96.5 percent (96.5%) will have the parental combination of these genes.
