It was December 31, 2020, the clock struck midnight. It was New Year's Eve as they say, and it was about to be one loud night. Not everyone knew the fun of this Holiday, this Celebration. It was something that people actually looked up to, something that people would just sit in their living room's a minute before the clock started singing the song to let us know, that it was that time. The fireworks and the happy cheering over a glass of juice or wine, just made me smile, because seeing that people were actually really happy over this just brought joy to me, it brought a warmth of happiness.

The lights, the food, the Family time that I've missed since my parents long gone left. It was all such a Beautiful and wonderful sight, just watching from my Window while kids jumped around, pointing to the sky saying, "Mom, mom look up there, look at that one!". I don't know what about New Years Eve that made me Curl up and squeal, but i liked that feeling. I liked feeling like an absolute happy person though everything hasn't been so 'happy' in my life. Drinking warm tea, and snuggled under my warm blankets. I never knew that such a Wonderful day, could ever make me so happy.

(Hi my name is Maki...this is what i would write..but i'm not sure if it was the topic you were aiming for, but i hope it helps you. <3 Good luck :D )

It was December 31st 2020 the clock struck midnight...it’s finally over I thought to myself. I wasn’t thinking about what the new year would bring I was thinking about how bad the last year was. While everyone around me shouted “Happy New Year!,” and “New Year new me!,” with smiles on their faces while embarrassing their loved ones I just stood there in my head as usual. I would love to be excited like everyone else but I was overthinking everything as usual, I wasn’t in the moment. “I need a drink...surprise me,” I said to the bar tender. He was a handsome man, nice curly hair, tall, strong jawline and a kind smile that would make any woman blush. “Happy New Years.. it’s on the house” he said handing me a shimmery red drink. “Thank you so much you don’t know how much it helps,” I replied in disbelief. I continued on to think about how much my life sucked and how I needed to do something about it. I think my New Years resolution isn’t going to be to loose weight or to start a journal but to be happy... it may sound easy but I assure you with the year I had its a challenge.

Once I finished my mystery drink I stood up and continued to the restroom giving the handsome bar tender and simple wave. I didn’t have to use the bathroom but I wanted to look at myself. Hazel eyes, dirty blond hair, cute nose, plump lips... I felt a salty tear fall down my cheek and onto my lips; and then another one, why am I crying? I’m beautiful I’m not broke I have what most people would dream of so why am I crying. More and more tears fell down my face and I couldn’t stop it once they started. All the feelings and emotions piled up from 2020 just falling down my face in a salty watery form that I didn’t ask for. I took out my phone and snapped a picture of my wrecked face and captioned it “Happy new year,” and pressed post so all of my 2 million followers could see and wonder why I was crying. Did I want validation, did I want attention I’m not really sure maybe a little bit of both. The salty tears still rolling down my face as I stare at myself and try to crack a smile. I’m so close to smiling “Happy New Years to me” I whisper to myself with mascara running down a beautiful face and onto my red cocktail dress. I dap my face with a towelette and head out the door leaving 2020 me in the bathroom ready to be happy in 2021.

9) In paragraph 4, which rhetorical device does Lincoln use to emphasize
that everyone has a stake in the war?
A) logical fallacy
B)
extended metaphor
C) parallel structure
D) rhetorical question

Answers

Answer:

Parallel Structure

Explanation:

He starts off the first two sentences with the same word; neither, and introduces a similar and continuing claim across the entire paragraph. He does the same with the rest of the sentences, such as the fourth sentence being a continuation of the third. Also, if you pay attention to the grammatical form within the paragraph, it creates a pattern. It essentially is a rhythm of speech that underscores two or more ideas that have the same importance to one another!

The rhetorical device Lincoln use to emphasize that everyone has a stake in the war is parallel structure. Thus the correct option is C.

What is the rhetorical device?

The language the author uses to express or convey any thinking or idea is symbolized by rhetorical devices. This vocabulary makes it easier to comprehend the writer's style as they express their ideas. Understanding the writer's emotions or feelings is made simpler by this.

Using a parallel structure is a way to demonstrate that two or more concepts are equally important. In order to establish a consistent pattern, simply states combinations of words or phrases with equivalent connotations.

In the given paragraph, Lincoln uses a parallel structure to emphasize that everyone has a stake in the war by showing equal importance.

Therefore, option C is appropriate.

A timeline explaining the novel murder at midnight

Only 5 slots

I need by 11:59

Answers

Answer:

The Murder at Midnight is a exceptional, thrilling, and suspenseful book that leaves the reader with a cliffhanger at every chapter. The Murder at Midnight is about a young boy [Fabrizio] who used to live on the streets, but was hired as a servant for a magician, when the magician’s wife stumbled upon him sitting on the streets. Fabrizio’s job leaves him with many mysteries every night, Fabrizio finds himself snooping through his master’s stuff to try and find how he does his tricks, but comes across something else, a murder.

This was definitely one of my favorite books and I wish there were more, or if there was a series. I would recommend this book to people who like mysteries and suspense, also to people who are in 6th and 7th grade because there a complexity to the book but not enough to make 8th grade level, but there a easy part to the book but not enough to make it a 5th grade level. But there are also some substandard part about the book. In this book it’s based 1700’s, so everyone is talking in old accents and you start to gain confusion. But that really means nothing compared to how good of a read this book really was.

The theme of this book is suspense. There are a ton of examples of suspense in this book, one is when fabrizio is arrested for questioning the prince and is sentenced to execution, he is released,  and his enthusiasm is priceless, he yells “ Signore… it says … it says … ‘let the boy … go … free!” I loved this part because the whole time when fabrizio was reading the letter he was thinking it was going to say to “kill him at once!”, and the executioner was definitely not to thrilled to kill a child so his enthusiasm was also funny. At first when fabrizio was reading it the executioner said “prepare yourself for death boy.” but as fabrizio kept reading and got to the part where it said let him go the executioner yelled, “Does it? Perfectly amazing! In all my years that’s never happened before.” which let a huge relief of stress when i though the main character was about to die.

Read the following paragraph and fill in the blanks using the appropriate and correct forms of verb given in the list.       (10 Marks)

(travel, be, disguise, walk, own, receive, step, surprise, tip, bow, greet, do, scream, run, fall, teach, play, think)

Answer:

Last year, I traveled to Spain to visit a close friend of mine. To surprise a clever fellow, I disguised myself as an ancient swordsman and walked into his place as if I owned it. After receiving directions from his servant, I stepped in his bedroom and greeted him with a slap on the back. Then, of course, I tipped my hat, bowed and greeted him the way they did in ancient Spain. My friend screamed and ran. In his frenzy, he was not able to see the stairs and fell down the flight of stairs. This taught me a lesson that I should not play pranks anymore. Sometimes, what you think of as entertaining may not be that entertaining for other people.

Explanation:

As you can see, we had to repeat a couple of verbs since there are more blanks than there are options. Most of the verbs should be used in the Simple Past Tense because the beginning of the passage states with precision when this story took place (last year). However, we must pay attention to whether the sentences contain a preposition or a modal verb, for instance, so that we can use the verb in the appropriate form (with -ing or in its base form, for example).

Which two parts of this excerpt from John Bunyan's The Pilgrim’s Progress show that the central character is devoutly religious and God-fearing?

Then said Evangelist, Why not willing to die, since this life is attended with so many evils? The man answered, Because I fear that this burden is upon my back will sink me lower than the grave, and I shall fall into Tophet [Isa. 30:33] And, Sir, if I be not fit to go to prison, I am not fit, I am sure, to go to judgement, and from thence to execution; and the thoughts of these things make me cry

Then said Evangelist, If this be thy condition, why standest thou still? He answered, Because I know not whither to go. Then he gave him a parchment roll, and there was written within, Flee from the wrath to come. [Matt. 3.7]
The man therefore read it, and looking upon Evangelist very carefully, said, Whither must I fly?
Then said Evangelist, pointing with his finger over a very wide field, Do you see yonder wicket-gate? [Matt. 7:13,14] The man said, No. Then said the other, Do you see yonder shining light? [Ps. 119:105; 2 Pet. 1:19] He said, I think I do. Then said Evangelist, Keep that light in your eye, and go up directly thereto: so shalt thou see the gate; at which, when thou knockest, it shall be told thee what thou shalt do.

Answer:

"The man therefore read it, and looking upon Evangelist very carefully, said, Whither must I fly?" This shows that the central character is willing to go the path that Evangelist advises him to, it's something that he feels he wants and must do.

"Then said Evangelist, 'Keep that light in your eye, and go up directly thereto: so shalt thou see the gate; at which, when thou knockest, it shall be told thee what thou shalt do.'" This shows that the central character is willing to follow Evangelist's instruction because of both the character's name and where he is saying he should head.
